A backup environment designed for a physical server and its applications is not necessary efficient in an environment with multiple virtual machines.
Expert opinion
The policy which is already in place for the backup of physical servers, is often directly applied to virtual machines. It is the simplier and quicker solution when servers and applications are virtualized.But, rather quickly, customers complain about side effects like growing backup storage space, backup window timeframe overflowing and restore management difficulties. As there is currently no universal answer to this type of concerns, Bull is able to implement a solution with his customer which is adapted to each context and gives priority to flexibility, cost and/or service level required for data protection.
